Aureum: Aureum was composed to celebrate the Golden Wedding Anniversary of John and Jennifer Ward on December 7th 2018. This composition is based on a beautiful 10-bar melody that grows and develops throughout the piece.

Beyond Heaven's Gates: Beyond Heaven's Gates was commissioned by Derwent Brass and their Musical Director Keith Leonard to celebrate the bands 25th anniversary. Circa 8:30

Black and White Rag (Solo for Xylophone - soloist grade 8, band 4+): Black and White Rag is a 1908 ragtime composition by George Botsford. It was made famous by pianist Winifred Atwell and it helped her to establish an international profile. It was also used as the theme tune to the BBC snooker series 'Pot Black'.

Breath of Souls: Breath of Souls was commissioned by Weyland and Yvonne Roberts and selected for the 100th National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain at the Royal Albert Hall on October 15th 2011. Duration 13:40

By Trevone Bay: "By Trevone Bay" was composed for Flugel Soloist Zoe Hancock and the Black Dyke Band to celebrate both their Double Champion Victory at the British Open and National Championships 2014 and Zoe's unique achievement in winning the Best Soloist Award in both contests - an accomplishment never done before.

Canzona Bravura: A fresh new and exciting euphonium solo that shows off the technical skills of the soloist and also their musicality in the beautiful middle section. Commissioned by Louise Martin for euphonium soloist Martin Smith. Circa 5'30". Soloist: Grade 6 ABRSM.

Carol of the Bells: Based on the famous Ukrainian Christmas Carol this piece would be a fantastic addition to any Christmas concert programme. It is ideal for any band 4th section and upwards and it has a unique twist to it with a choice of two different endings. Circa 3'00".

CD1 - Walking With Heroes: This CD marks the first volume of recordings of my compositions and is performed brilliantly by the Black Dyke Band under the direction of Dr. Nicholas Childs.

CD2 - Only for You: Only for You is the second album of music by Paul Lovatt-Cooper, recorded by Black Dyke Band and directed by Dr Nicholas Childs.

Christians Awake: This Christmas fanfare is a great way to start a concert or a second half. It has lots of excitement in the fanfare while the use of the Christmas carol Christians Awake gives it a fantastic sense of occasion. Ideal for 3rd section bands and upwards. Circa 2'10".

Consecration: The hymn tune arrangement "Consecration" was commissioned by Weyland and Yvonne Roberts, in memory of Archibald Roberts.

Emerald Skies: A beautiful medium tempo solo for either cornet or flugal commissioned by Ross Johnson and the Camberwell Citadel Band in Australia. Circa 4'00". Soloist: Grade 3 ABRSM.

Enchanted Kingdom: An exciting concert finale composed for the Brighouse and Rastrick Band and given its world premier at the Sage Gateshead at the 2009 Brass in Concert Championships. Circa 7'00".

Excelsior Fanfare and Theme: Excelsior was composed for the New Mills Band to mark the occasion of their 200th anniversary. It is a dramatic and emotive fanfare and theme based on the hymn tune 'Ransom'.

Festiva Brazilia - Concert piece: "Festiva Brazilia" was composed for the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain 2012 and takes its influence from the incredibly energetic Samba Music of Brazil.

Fire in the Blood: This was commissioned by Dr Stephen Cobb for the 120th anniversary of the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army. It had a rousing premiere performance at the International Staff Band 120th anniversary. Circa 10'08".

Flying the Flag: Flying the Flag was commissioned by Brass Band Erschwil to celebrate the 10th anniversary with their conductor Martin Altenbach. The piece was presented to Martin at their celebration concert in Switzerland on October 2015.

From your Smile: 'From your Smile' was commissioned by Gary and Leanne Curtin for the birth of their son Jamie. It was composed for Gary's latest solo CD entitled Eiretime .Duration c3'20"

Island Whirl: Commissioned by Margaret Milligan for Ian, her husband who is the musical director of Callendar Brass, based in Callendar near Stirling in Scotland. With Celtic drums and the use of the Scottish traditional song 'An Eriskay Love Lilt' the piece works very well as a lively concert/2nd half opener or even as a piece to liven up the middle of a concert programme. Circa 3'30".

Jack in a Box: A fun xylophone solo commissioned by the Bilton Silver (Rugby) band for talented up and coming percussionist Jack Fisher. Circa 2'30". Soloist: Grade 5 ABRSM.

Platform to the Heavens - Finale: Platform to the Heavens was commissioned by The Societe Cantonale des Musiques Vaudoises and the Association Cantonale des Musiques Neuchateloises for the Cantonal Vaud and Neuchatel Music Contest 2013.

Pound the Streets: A fast pounding rock number commissioned for the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland by the Scottish Brass Band Association for the Tartan Heart Festival 2010. Circa 3'30".

Quicksilver (Solo for Eb flat Tuba - soloist grade 8, band 3+): Quicksilver is a concert showcase for the E flat Tuba specially commissioned by Tuba Virtuoso Perry Hoogendijk. Perry is Principal Tuba with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra based in the Netherlands and wanted new repertoire for the instrument.

Road to Run - Concert piece : "Road to Run" was composed for the National Children's Brass Band of Great Britain 2014 and takes its influence from the great American Jazz Fusion style that was prominent in the 1970's and 80's made famous by bands such as 'Weather Report', 'Return to Forever' and 'Headhunters'.

Rondo Alla Turk: Mozart is one of my favourite composers and his Rondo Alla Turk has been a popular concert piece for many performers the world over. This is an arrangement I have done for solo xylophone that shows off the technical dexterity of both the piece and the instrument. Circa 3'10". Soloist: Grade 8 ABRSM.

Slam Dunk: Slam Dunk was commissioned by the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland for their Children’s Band. This piece is an upbeat funky number that was composed for both performer and listener to have fun with. Circa 4.10

Soaring the Skies: A concert opener composed for the staff and students of the Blue Coat School, Oldham. Circa 3:30.

Song for the Skies: Commissioned by tuba virtuoso Les Neish this piece is a simple yet beautiful solo for the E flat Tuba. It is a slow melody with a nice Celtic feel to it and is suitable for all tuba players who enjoy playing slow melodies. Circa 3'20". Soloist: Grade 4 ABRSM

Streamline Peaks: Streamline Peaks was commissioned and composed to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Glassworks Brass Band St-Prex. As the Glassworks Band are based in Switzerland, I used two iconic Swiss elements for my inspiration; the famous Swiss landscapes and their famous Rail system.

Tale of the Dragon: Tale of the Dragon was commissioned by the Senshu University Tamana High School Band in Japan to celebrate their 50th Anniversary.

The Bleak Midwinter: The Bleak Midwinter is an arrangement of the famous Christmas Carol by Gustav Holst with words from the poem by Christina Rossetti. IT has been arranged for Bb soloist circa 3.40

The Enigma Machine: The Enigma Machine was written at the request of The BT Band and their Musical Director Michael Fowles to celebrate the band's 40th Anniversary. The first performance was given in the Villa Marina, Douglas Isle of Man on 30th September 2007.

The Final Voyage: The Final Voyage was commissioned by Carole Crompton on behalf of Bolsover District Council.

Wall of Sound: A real 'feel-good' piece that mixes the genres of dance, jazz, rock and funk that is an ideal showcase for band and soloists. Commissioned by Dr Nicholas Childs and Philip Biggs for the National Children's Band of Great Britain 2010. Circa 7'20".

When Thunder Calls: When Thunder Calls has been composed and designed to make it a very effective way of starting a concert or a second half of a concert and when performed with all the choreography, this piece makes for an exciting addition to any concert repertoire. Circa 3'58".

With His First Breath: "With His First Breath" is the lovely slow melody taken from the middle movement of my larger work Breath of Souls. It has been composed for performance by any B-flat soloist within the ensemble - Cornet, Euphonium, Baritone, Flugel or Trombone.
