Standing Ovation for Premier in Switzerland
The latest work by composer Paul Lovatt-Cooper has been given a standing ovation following its premiere in Switzerland by Black Dyke.

Performed under the direction of Dr Nicholas Childs at the Swiss Open Gala Concert, 'When Thunder Calls' is a choreographed concert opener that introduces the emerging band section by section.

Black Dyke's second half opening was so well received the audience gave it an immediate standing ovation.

Commenting on the reception Paul told 4BR: "I really enjoyed working on the piece. When talking with Nick about its design we wanted an opener with a difference and so we worked on the choreography in fine detail to make it a success.

He added: "I was bowled over by the way it was received. The Swiss audiences really enjoy Black Dyke performing, but to gain a standing ovation during the concert rather than the end of the performance was something very special."
Black Dyke's MD added: "Paul really pulled one out of the hat with this one. I wasn't surprised at the standing ovation as it is an absolute cracking concert piece".
